NHL Lockout 2012: Lost Moments

In 2004 we lost a ton of great hockey moments, including a year of lost Mario Lemieux moments. If we lose another season there will be even more moments lost, so lets take a look at what is at stake.

-  Have we seen the last of Teemu Selanee?

The Brett Favre of hockey just might be done as a result of this lockout. A player like this should go out to an ovation, not a union meeting.

- A healthy Sidney Crosby.

After two seasons of uncertainty, we finally know that Crosby is healthy enough to play. The problem is that Crosby is in better condition than the league itself.

- Parise and Suter

The two most coveted free agents this offseason landed together in Minnesota. The whole hockey world is waiting to see what kind of impact they will have on the Wild. We may have to wait a little longer.

-  Rick Nash playing in The Garden

It will be interesting to see a player of Nash’s talent play on a team that is, well not terrible.

-  Will Ovechkin return to his old form?

Last year Ovie had a decent year by some standards, but not up to par with someone who should be in the “best player in the world” conversation. Will he bounce back?

-  Will Bobby Ryan get traded?

Second only to Rick Nash trade talk was that of Ryan. Will the long discussed trade happen?

-  Jagr and Whitney team up in Big D.

At this point in their careers, they aren’t exactly Parise and Suter, but it will be fun to watch these aging Stars play together.

- L. A. Kings title defense.

Who didn’t love the Kings magic title run, besides their opponents that is? Could the Kings repeat, or would a lost season kill the carry over hype?

 - Staal brothers unite in Carolina.

It will be interesting to see Eric and Jordan play together in Carolina, not to mention to watch Jordan skate out of the shadow of Sid and Geno. The moment will happen, but the sooner the better.

- One less year with Marty Brodeur.

No, a lockout most likely wouldn’t end Brodeur’s NHL career, but a lost year with an active legend is priceless. (See above reference to Lemieux).

- Claude Giroux’s journey to stardom.

Last year Giroux proved that his name belonged in conversation with the big boys. We all would love to see how far he can go, plus we want to hear more Giroux – Crosby smack talk.

These are just a few storylines that may have to wait, but lets hope this topic become irrelevant and we get to see some top level puck soon.

Until next time…….
