NHL Lockout 2012: Update Day 4

Preseason Games Lost

Today has been a difficult day for NHL fans.

The league announced today that they are canceling all pre season games for the month of September, which is odd considering that most camps aren’t scheduled to open until September 21st. That doesn’t bode well for the mindset of those involved in negotiations.

Normally I would say that less preseason games are a good thing in regards to injuries, but with so many players playing for other leagues, it really isn’t much of a glass half full argument.

I’ll be back…..maybe.

Today Alex Ovechkin told some media members that if the NHL continues to try to cut back salaries in the fashion that they are, he would not be surprised to see a lot of players not come back to the NHL.

I think that the NHL brass is greatly underestimating the KHL right now and that fact that many of the NHL stars call Russia home.

Ovechkin also predicted that this would be a full season lockout, stating that they are not going to give in, while crediting the strong leadership of Donald Fehr to keep the players together.

The forgotten.

The NHL informed employees at their headquarters to expect a 4 day work week starting October 1st.

Unfortunately the millionaires on both sides tend to forget the people who get caught in the cross fire of a work stoppage.

And another one gone.

The  Ottawa Senators Jason Spezza is going to play for  Rapperswil-Jona in Switzerland. Not a surprise, but another hard pill to swallow during this lockout.

Q & A

On a more positive note, Hyped Up Hockey is starting a Q & A weekly feature that will be on this site as well as our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/jocksandgamers.

Questions about anything hockey can be submitted via our contact us form, a direct message via Twitter, or a YouTube message. All questions will be answered and your site ID, Twitter ID, or YouTube name will be featured in the segment and article. Great exposure if you want more followers and subscribers.

Hopefully soon we can discuss more pleasant things like a new NHL season. What an idea!

Here is a cool video about NHL 2013 by EA. I hope to have an NHL 2012 tutorial soon. Stay tuned.

Until next time……
